Top Gear and the P50
Top Gear never shies away from doing things on a grand scale. Except when it’s time to test the P50. As the UK becomes more crowded, it makes sense to look for a great compact car. There is a lot of options but the problem is, none are VERY small. In comes the Peel P50.
The Peel P50 is 54 inches long and 41 inches wide. So who better to test it than Richard Hammond?
Well, Clarkson. Yes, 6 foot 5 Jeremy Clarkson engulfs himself in the P50, the smallest production car ever, on a journey to and in the BBC Center in London.
Built on the Isle of Man in the early 60′s cost 198£ and did a 100 mpg! Of course it is neither fast with a variable top speed of 35mph, nor very comfortable. But when you get to work, no parking worries! The P50 is so small and so light, you can literally take it with you all the way to your desk. You’ll never see the Top Gear Team so enthusiastic about a car.
